November 16th, 2008 am
It is 8:07 am. I just finished my breakfast from the cafateria, hoping to start the week off right. It was pretty good. Mary is doing fine this morning. I went in to kiss her and say good morning about 7:15. The nurse said she had a pretty busy night. When I left her at about 9:30 last night, she was really getting mad that I wouldn't help her out of the bed. It was really hard to be in a little fight with Mary, because I know that she just doesn't understand yet that she has to stay in bed. I am used to having her be mad at me for little things at home, but this is different. It seems like she is thinking Scott's my husband , I'll get him in here and he will help me. But when I won't do it, she doesn't understand why. I know this is temporary, and I keep telling myself that. Yesterday, Mary brushed her own teeth. The nurse was doing it, Mary stopped her and said "You want me to do it?" Sounds like Mary doesn't it. While I was talking to her this morning, she wanted to get in the car and drive around a little. When I told her that I don't even have a car here, she said call Beth. Then without taking a breath she rattled off Beth's cell phone number like it was part of the sentence. I looked at the nurse, to see if she heard that. When I looked, her eyes were big and she said "wow, she's doin' good". It really seems like Mary has retained most of the information she new. Sometimes it may be a little jumbled coming out. But it's there and it will come. I am hoping for a good day today. I know she will be having some visitors, hopefully she will be awake for them to say hi. I think it's good for her to see her friends. I know I enjoy seeing her face light up when they come in. Thanks, and pray for a good day.

I have been to see Cousin Mary 3 times now and every visit is better than the last, very uplifting.
Scott, you are so wonderful with Mary , I am witness to your 100% devotion. The waiting room has been your bedroom for the past 10 days on a carpeted concrete floor.
I am sure some of your time has been in slow motion. You have proven your strength and Mary is
very lucky to have you in her life.
Remember what I said..."you have
a lot of family and friends that want to help you and Mary get through this, it may not be until you get back into Quincy, but please, use us! It makes everyone feel good to be a part of the road to recovery and your gift to us would be to let us help out :)
I have to say, after my Wednesday visit, I was tickled with just seeing her awake and hearing her speak a few words.
Praise the Lord !
Love,
Cousin Gail
Praise God!!! He is SO good! If there were non-believers before this happened to you both......there should be A LOT of believers now! I also pray for that, through all of this. Everything happens for a reason, I know good is already come from this. Let the good continue! Thanks for keeping us updated! Give your mom (sweet Sharon)a hug for me!
Love, cousin Anne:)
Hey Brother...
Am so excited to hear that Mary is doing more each day! When I come down again, I'm sure I'll be amazed at the progress she's made since the last time I was there...I'm praying for strength for you though, as you too have a long road ahead!!!
love ya
Sarah
Greetings from Connecticut - Glad to hear Mary is doing so well. Scott, take care of you too! See you soon, Linda
Hi Scott,
I have tears of joy for Mary. I am so glad to hear how much Mary has made progress in the last few days I know the prayers are feeding thru to Mary each hour and day. I am sure after a day of her doing so much she does need a day to rest to gain strength to progress even more the next day in her recovery. It is so wonderful they already know she is ready for rehab, you can not keep a GOOD WOMAN DOWN.....
I know it must be very hard on you to have Mary there for her rehab but yes you are right, they are just wonderful there and I am with you to believe the best place for her recovery as well, and you know Mary will even try harder to get home sooner. If you have not heard of the restaurant there at Barnes called Queeny Tower Restaurant you should take some time for yourself and take a break to go have a very nice lunch there. They are usually open from I believe 11 am to 2 pm during the week and if you ask for a punch card you can after a number of lunches have a free lunch. Just a nice view at the top of the tower and lunch while you take some time for yourself which is very important as well even when we sometimes don't think we need it. I know it is very frustrating when you know Mary wants your help but can not give the help she is wanting right at that moment, just hang in there......Your love and devotion shine is so many ways....keep yourself rested as well and know there are angles around Mary while you are not by her side.........
Tomorrow shall be a Good Day for You and Mary both I pray this in God's name........Have a good nights rest Scott.....<>< <>< <>< Thanks for you notes each and every day.....Sue Kelle
Scott,
What great news. Once she gets to rehab she will improve more and more. Its one day at a time. Your devotion is amazing. That what love is all about between a wife and a husband. Your are a lucky man. God bless you and your family.

Scott,
You don't know us; we go to MPCC with your dear parents. Just want to let you know we're praying for Mary, you, and your family. It's so good to read of her progress. It seems to me that you are both pretty amazing people! With the Lord by your side, we have great hope for continued recovery.

Scott...just wanted to leave you a note to let you know how awesome it is to see a man so in love with his wife. She is so lucky to have such a man!!! When she gets ready to read all these blogs she will enjoy every minute of it and will see how loved she is. Also, please know that we are ALL praing for her.
I am one of those people you spoke about last week, I dont know her but really care for her. I have worked with Mary for 10 years but have never had the pleasure to work "with her". She has such a great smile on her face every day and I am sure one day this will return.
Thank you for the continued updates as we all keep praying for her! Amy
