December 8, 2008 pm

Hello again, it is 7:31 pm. I just arrived at home in Quincy a little earlier this evening. Once again I decided to come back for a few days and let Mary really concentrate on her therapy. She did not want me to go, but last week she did so good, we agreed it would be good to do it again. She understands that I need to start getting myself back to work, and other normal stuff around here. Mary had a pretty good weekend, as she really did well in her walking. This morning she walked about 350 ft. before having to rest. Keep in mind that this was after climbing 2 flights of stairs 3 different times. Way to go Mary! Also, the most important news of the day, came in about 2:00 pm. The results of the team meeting were given to us by Mary's case Manager and one of her therapist. Although there are still some issues with her balance, and barring no changes of any ones minds, my girl is coming home this Friday!!!!! She has fought so hard to get to this moment, and it seems like it is finally coming. Mary, I am so proud of you. You have not only inspired me, but lots of others also. I can't believe you have come so far in so little time. Thinking about where you were just 5 short weeks ago, it is a miracle that you are going to be home for Christmas. Our kids are so happy that their Mom will be home for the holiday's. We have been on them a little bit to get some sort of a Christmas shopping list together, as I have some people waiting to help me shop. (shopping is not my forte'). But, both Alex and Regan agree that for some reason, presents just don't seem to be very important to them this year. I have already gotten what I hoped for. My wife will be sitting next to the tree, just like the 25 years before this one. It will be wonderful. She cannot wait to get home and see everyone, and we cannot wait to get her back home. This house just isn't the same with Mary not here. But soon, that will change. In our minds, it can't be soon enough. Mary will begin rehab as soon as she is back. We don't want to lose ground on the progress that she has made. Please pray for her continued progress. As always, thanks.

Hi Scott, this is Linda, Misty's Mom from the hospital. Wow what a day Friday will be! I am so happy for you! It seems like a miracle! This whole journey you all have travelled is amazing. When I got to the hospital on 11/7 and Misty told me about meeting you and Mary's diagnosis, I was very skeptical. It has been a joy to read your blog every day and see the daily progress. God is so good. My prayers will continue to be with you and your family. May God continue to bless you with another "Christmas Miracle"! Linda

Go Mary, Go Mary, Go Mary
I'm so happy for you because I know there is no place like home. All the prayers sent has made this a true Christmas Miracle on Wheatland Drive. I'm so happy to hear that the kids are just satisfied with their Mom home for Christmas that gifts are not important nor the issue. Everyone here at home is praying & cheering for you Mary & your family. Scott please utilize all of us here at home because you can't and won't be able to do it all. Gail & Rita know who we are that have written and would be willing to help in any way. I don't know where you are going for rehab in Quincy but there is a little foreign guy named Michael at Blessing's rehab dept that is wonderful. He is such a timid, shy little guy but has such great force to push at the same time. Have a safe trip home as it will be Mary's best ride ever.

Amazing news. Let me know when I can help with Mary. I can spend a day or several hours with her at home so she is not alone during the day. I can take her to therapy. Just let me know. It is truly a miracle that she has progressed so quickly. She has a very strong will. She will only improve faster when she is in her own home. God bless your family. Terry Anderson

Way to pull together in this time of devistation--that really shows what kind of wife and mother you are to them!! And where would we be without our Good Lord, the Light in all dark places...hope to the hopeless, it is amazing to see God's work here.
